Sunday 2 February, at 5.00 pm, the Osimo Academy of Lyric Art opens the 2020 concert season with the traditional “Double Concert” at the Cloister of the Convent of San Francesco di Osimo. Two groups of young artists will take turns in the Bocchetti room and in the San Francesco room, with two fascinating programs. The first, “Opera Buffa”, is a rundown of arias, duets and ensemble pieces by Pergolesi, Mozart, Cimarosa, Rossini, Donizetti and Offenbach: the comic and brilliant spirit of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The second concert, “Melodramma”, includes pieces from serious works by Rossini and pages from the most famous works by Donizetti, Verdi, Gounod, Puccini. Young artists participate, among which are some of the new purchases of the Osimana academy, from China, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Italy, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey. On the piano, two teachers from the Academy: Alessandro Benigni – pianist and conductor – and Mirca Rosciani who alternates the piano activity with that of choir and orchestra conductor. The concert is dedicated to the memory of Luciano Ghergo who was President of the Academy from 2012 to 2018. An international businessman, he was in love with his city and was generous towards institutions that, like the Academy, spread the name of Osimo beyond national borders. Admission to concerts is free.
